Leaking Chimney Repair – How Does the Process Work?

Once a customer calls us, we will schedule a time to come out to inspect their roof. Our first step is to open up the roofing around the chimney so we can see the cause of the leak. 

In the example in the video, the issue was old, rotting wood that suffered a lot of water damage. In order to repair this, we replace the wood and add in all of the necessary protection, such as a layer of ice and water shield followed by flashing and a silicone caulk. Then we finish the project with a new layer of shingles that match your current shingles.

The ice and water shield underlayment is your best protection against water intrusion around the chimney. 

What is Flashing?

Aluminum flashing is a material that we put around the chimney for an extra layer of leak prevention. The flashing is custom fabricated on-site by our guys, so it fits your chimney perfectly!
